1) Lead Ss to analyse the structure of diary through the passage
2) Ask Ss to read the passage and find out what the author wrote in his diary
3) Guide Ss to skim the passage and divide it into four parts
4) Complete Meng Hao’s experiences with expressions from the passage
5) Remind Ss to take notes if necessary
