There are a handful of human coronaviruses that are known to be deadly
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome(中东呼吸综合征) also known as the MERS virus was first reported in the Middle East in 2012 and also causes respiratory problems but those symptoms are much more severe Three to four out of every 10 patients infected with MERS died according to the CDC
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome(严重急性呼吸综合征) also known as SARS is the other coronavirus that can cause more severe symptoms First identified in the Guangdong province in southern China according to the WHO it causes respiratory problems but can also cause diarrhea [ˌdaɪəˈriə](腹泻) fatigue (疲劳)shortness of breath respiratory distress (呼吸窘迫) and kidney failure (肾衰)Depending on the patient's age the death rate with SARS ranged from050 of the cases with older people being the most vulnerable(易受伤害)
Viruses can spread from human contact with animals Scientists think MERS started in camels according to the WHO With SARS scientists suspected civet cats(狸猫)were to blame
When it comes to humantohuman transmission of the viruses often it happens when someone comes into contact with the infected person's secretions(分泌物)
Depending on how virulent(毒)the virus is a cough sneeze or handshake could exposure T h e virus can also b e transmitted by touching something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth nose or eyes Caregivers (护理员)cans sometimes b e exposed b y handling a patient ' s waste according to the CDC

For her first twentyfour year she'd been known as Deb biea name that didn't suit her good looks and elegant manner My name has always made me think I should Be a cheer leader She complained I just don't feel like a Debbie
One day while filling out an application form for publishing job the young woman suddenly changed middle name Lynne for her first name Debbie That was the smartest  thing I ever did She says now As soon as I stopped calling myself Debbie I feh more comfortable with myself and other people started to take me more seriously Two years after her successful job interview the former waitress is now a successful magazine editor friends and associates call her Lynne

Of course names with a good sense can work for you even encouraging new acquaintances A recent survey showed that American men thought Susan to be the most attractive female name while women believed Richard and David were the most attractive to men One woman I know turned down a blind date with a man named Harry because he sounded dull Several evenings later she came up to me at a party pressing for an introduction to a very nice man with whom they looked at each other all evening Oh 'I said You mean Harry She was ill at ease
    61 Debbie's changing her name______

Detective fiction is something that gained popularity comparatively later than all other genres in literature There might be some works that existed in historic time that could now be identified as detective fiction but the works that were introduced solely as this genre began with the writings of Edgar Allan Poe and Wilkie Collins Of course today when we talk about detective fictions the works of Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie come foremost Their stories are those that have given an edge to this genre due to its popularity
Being a passionate reader of Doyle and Christie I would like to draw a comparison between the styles used by Doyle in Sherlock series and Christie in her mystery thrillers Both of them use a specific pattern for their detective stories Doyle mostly develops the story from a helpless client’s visit to 221B Baker Street All the accounts of the cases are narrated by Watson except two pieces Christie’s works in a way look completely different as the stories and settings are varied and quite unique But we can always see that there is a basic formula in her works A murder happens and all the characters in the plot mostly people around the victim have something to be suspected of some secrets that they hold back all of which are set up to totally confuse the reader
Christie’s novels are all about who is the murderer but while reading Sherlock a reader is more interested in knowing how Sherlock finds the criminal It is the method Sherlock employs to deduce the facts and to connect the dots that readers await to know This can be understood just by thinking how every Sherlock reader waits for that part where Sherlock explains the facts to Watson who shares the reader’s ignorance When we reach the same crucial point in Christie’s works what our eyes search for is the namethe name of the murderer All the explanations logic and reasoning interest us only later
Christie has used various types of narrative techniques in different novels There has been a set of novels where there is omniscient narration(叙述者全知) others with Hastings (Hercule Poirot’s assistant) as the narrator and even some in firstperson narrative She introduced many detectives Poirot being the most popular On the other hand Doyle had only Sherlock as detective in his novels and stories But he had started a new series portraying a new character Professor Challenger which didn’t become as popular as Sherlock series
Both the writers worked on the principles of science logic and psychology When compared Sherlock stories seem more realistic as they are not as dramatic as Christie’s novels But the element of psychology is more explored by Christie Often her detective believes in sitting in a chair and thinking to solve the mystery rather than running around collecting clues It is because her detectives work by analyzing the hidden psychology rather than explicit actions Sherlock is an active detective who works hard in finding clues wouldn’t mind devising a little drama or an act of disguise(伪装) for it
Both of them have created logically credible stories but somewhere or other Sherlock ones are close to life because they portray not only murder but also seemingly simple human issues Christie
’s works are more engaging but the act of making up the plotthe purposeful concealing and revealingis somewhere visible But it is undeniable that she never fails to entertain her readers While reading Sherlock we forget Doyle and our whole attention is on Sherlock and sometimes we end up feeling he is a real individual rather than a fictional character But in Christie’s works somehow we feel it’s she who is working rather than Poirot which is why she became the queen of crime and not her characters Thus in a way Agatha Christie outshines her characters and Sherlock Holmes outshines his creator But both ways Doyle and Christie gifted their fans excellent detective stories to involve themselves in and enjoy all their life
65In terms of detective fictions Doyle and Christie are foremost mentioned because _______
A they worked together and created many famous detective figures
B it is Doyle and Christie that made detective fictions well received
C it is their works that made detective fictions superior to other genres
D they are considered as the founding fathers of detective fictions
66Which of the following may be typical Christie’s works
A Novels with a specific opening pattern with a focus on deducing facts
B Thrillers with varied and unique settings to make plots more confusing
C Fictions in which there is a fixed character responsible for unfolding the story
D Detective stories in which victims and suspects are closely related to the detective
67When reaching crucial points in Christie’s works readers tend to give priority to _____
A the motive behind the crime
    Bthe personality of the criminal
C the identity of the criminal
    Dthe details of the crime
68A new character Professor Challenger brought about ______
A another hit with detective fans
Ban abrupt decline in Sherlock’s appeal
C an inspiration for Agatha Christie
    Da disappointment for Conan Doyle
69How do Doyle and Christie make their stories reasonable
A They stuck to firstperson narrative techniques
B They applied knowledge of different fields
C They included detailed accounts of explicit actions
D They refused to display mystery in the stories
70What kind of detective may Hercule Poirot be
A One who is active in searching for and connecting clues
B One who lays emphasis on both actions and psychology
C One who sometimes plays tricks and even cheats suspects
D One who is good at discovering secrets in human mind

The most wonderful time of the year (the Christmas season) is also the most stressful for lots of people struggling to fit in increased endoftheyear workloads holiday parties shopping guest hosting travel and seeing f
riends and relatives who you’d otherwise avoid Luckily the same coping mechanisms that can help relieve stress 73and find better balance during the year also work for this holiday
Here are four tips to finding work—life balance during this season
1 Know and get away from your stressors
If cooking for a large group baking cookies or Christmas shopping are your key stressors don’t do them Lots of grocery stores will help cater your next holiday meal Bakeries exist for a reason and gift cards are much appreciated by all Stop trying to live up to someone else’s expectations of the holidays and stay merry by outsourcing the pain points75
    2 Get flexible at work
If you normally commute an hour each way at work see if your boss will let you work from home in this special season to save time get more done and reduce your stress Or ask if you can start work from home in the mornings and come to the office later in the day to avoid peak commute times Leave early and finish your day from the comfort of home too
3 Make your own list and check it twice
Make a todo list for yourself for both work and life then divide it up into categories like must do want to do and feel obligated to do If you can eliminate any or all of your obligatory list the rest of your todos will start to look a lot easier
Once you have your lists in order it’s time to start crossing things off In between your mustdos tasks include a wanttodo task to break things up and reenergize yourself Yes this holiday is a time to give back to others and be selfless but there’s still a bit of self in selflessness isn’t there
4 If you start to feel a cold coming on come to a full and complete stop
The best way to stop a cold from exploding into a weekslong saga of sickness is to stop it at the start Unless a task or activity is an absolute necessity cancel your plans put away your todo lists and settle in for a long winter’s nap A day of rest and enough sleep is the only thing you NEED right now Feel bad about declining holiday invitations from your friends and family You’re doing them a favor Once people hear that you’re sick they’ll be glad you stayed away — they don’t want to come down with78 a cold during the holiday any more than you do
It is certain that you can feel less stressed in this hectic season when you stop expecting so much from yourself because nobody puts so much expectation on you as you do to yourself Trying to satisfy clients coworkers friends and family can be draining and can ultimately negatively impact you in many ways When you simplify things up front you relieve the stress off of yourself and everyone else in the process Stop focusing on what you feel like you’re obligated to do and start focusing on what you want and need to do the load will get lighter and you will feel a lot merrier under the Christmas tree

This week should have seen the beginning of a new semester Instead China has been witnessing a different kind of new semester because of the novel coronavirus outbreak Many Chinese schools have suspended the new semester and moved the classrooms online leading to an explosion of viewings on online educational platforms
On the first day of school DingTalk a virtual workplace developed by Alibaba Group held online classes for an estimated 50 million students nationwide from primary to high school level
The huge demand led many to assume that online classrooms are the source of future prosperity But according to a guideline issued by the Ministry of Education on Feb 12 postponement of school without suspension of learning is not equal to learning through online courses As the education authorities have said it is unnecessary for every teacher to record online courses to be evaluated for quality Also kindergarten classes cannot be held online
